Maria Rose Big Lake, 57, passed away July 22, 2023. She was born November 27, 1965, to LaVern Williamson and Morris Big Lake, Sr. Maria was a member of the Piegan clan and a child of the Bad War Deeds clan.
She grew up and attended school in Lodge Grass and graduated in 1986. She worked various jobs throughout her life starting at Stevenson’s IGA in Lodge Grass, bartending at the Corner Pocket, assistant manager at Sinclair and was an assistant associate at the Stage department store. She was blessed with children and very proud of them.
Maria loved playing pool on her time off. She cherished her friends, sisters, family and children and loved spending time with them. She enjoyed writing poems and listening to music. Maria was a caring person, always ready to help anyone whenever she could without expecting anything in return.
She is preceded in death by her father Morris Big Lake, Sr., her paternal grandparents James and Edith (White Clay) Big Lake, maternal grandparents Dexter and Lorraine (Morrison) Williamson, Jr.; uncles Oliver, Garlon and Melvin Williamson, Paul Morning, Sr., Arlin Stewart, Thomas, Delbert, Archie and Vernon Big Lake; aunts Ramona Left Hand, Jeanean Turns Plenty, Dorothy M. Hair, Marcella and Lorraine Big Lake, Olive Yarlott and Ada Horn; sisters Rena Pickett, Sharon Stands, Lorett and Antoinette Big Lake, Gladys Takes Horse, Fairalee and Crystal Williamson, Ella Buffalo and Susan Horn; her brothers Gary Big Lake, Morris Big Lake, Jr., Emerson Pickett, Joseph Buffalo, Jr. and Hubb and Aaron Williamson; nephews Ruben Stewart, Todd and Alan Old Elk.
She is survived by her mother LaVern Williamson Big Hair; her sons Todd and Weston Weigand; her sisters Gloria (Porgey) Old Elk, Janet (Elton) Backbone, Edie Big Lake, LaVern (Evan Pretty On Top) Takes Horse, Paula (Vernon) Fisher, Sr. Rose Williamson, Mary and Jonella Williamson, Loretta Birdinground, Tammy Dillon, Leah Hill and Sweetheart Carpenter; her brothers Champion (Eunice) Takes Horse, Conklin, Ronnie and John Big Lake, Kenneth (Pork Chops), Harding Turns Plenty, Mark (Rosanna) Denny, Dean (Annie) Buffalo, Emery and Jade (Tashina) Three Irons, Chase (Christina) and Stratton Williamson, JD (Joluanna) Pickett, Ron Williamson; aunts Clarice (Spencer) Denny, Loretta Big Lake, Myra Left Hand, Ruby Williamson, Senora Jean Tushka and Beldean (Alex) Plain Feather; uncles Tom Dooley LaForge and Dino (Gene) Hernandez; nieces Sandra Stands, Marny (Joshua) Old Elk Limberhand, Keisha and Tymer Big Lake; nephews Adrian Stands, Jr. and Jon Gary Old Elk and her great grandson Lycan Cash Williamson.
